The launch of the Swan 55 in 1970 marked a watershed moment in the history of Nautor Swan and the evolution of highperformance offshore yachts. Conceived as the Finnish yard’s flagship under the pen of the legendary design firm Sparkman & Stephens (S&S Design 2012.1), the Swan 55 represented the absolute pinnacle of luxury passagemaking and ocean racing. Built during what classic yacht connoisseurs widely refer to as Nautor's "Golden Era," only sixteen of these hulls were completed in Pietarsaari before production ceased in 1974. Designed to the Cruising Club of America (CCA) and early International Offshore Rule (IOR) lines, this model became a legendary precursor to the Swan 65, establishing the shipyard's reputation for indestructible construction and oceanconquering elegance.
