Hanse 360 ST Buyer's Guide
The Hanse 360 ST is the sporting "Sport Talent" version of Hanse's 360 cruiser, launched on the same Berret-Racoupeau platform that debuted in 2023. Among used Hanse 360 STs it arrives as a very new design, and buyers will find a boat that pairs cruising interior flexibility with a taller rig, deeper T-keel, and race-style rudder. Knowing which layouts and upgrades are typical, and what construction points the surveys note, helps a shopper judge an individual example.
Layouts on the Used Market
The ST was offered with a choice of two or three cabins, and on the resale side the three-cabin owner layouts are the more common, though both remain available. Ex-charter examples are common, so buyers should expect some volume-use wear alongside private-owner boats. The interior mirrors the standard 360's footprint with a sportier look — subtly black mast support and companionway, patterned upholstery, and grey lockers — and the bathroom or nav-table versions of the base model were both carried over.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
Most used STs carry a deep equipment list as commonly fitted from new. For power and energy, lithium batteries and a bow thruster are usual, alongside heating for cooler climates. Sail-handling and canvas commonalities include a furling main, code zero, gennaker or asymmetric spinnaker, electric winches, bimini, dodger, and a swim platform with cockpit shower. Navigation is covered by AIS, autopilot, and chartplotter as standard-fit items on most boats. Teak decks appear commonly as well. The ST itself standardized laminate sails, Lewmar manual racing winches, and an electric anchor windlass from the factory, so a well-equipped example needs little immediate upgrade.
What to Inspect
The ST's deck uses a recycled PET foam core instead of balsa, while the hull retains a balsa core in sandwich construction with a vinyl ester outer layer anchor. The floor assembly is bonded with a lighter adhesive than the standard boat, a product Hanse had not used before, so check for any movement or delamination at the sole interface. The T-keel is deeper and heavier than the base model and hollow in the upper section to lower the centre of gravity; inspect the keel-hull joint and internal void for corrosion or water ingress. The rudder is a more efficient spade type — confirm bearing play and laminate integrity. The 85-centimetre-taller rig uses low-stretch Dyform stays and carries laminate sails as standard; examine the standing rigging terminals and sail film condition.
Availability and Buyer's Takeaway
These boats are typically found in the United States and Germany. For a shopper, the practical checklist is: confirm whether a three- or two-cabin layout suits your plans, verify the hull and deck core condition at the keel and floor joints, check the hollow T-keel and spade rudder for structural soundness, and review the Dyform rigging and laminate sails for age-related wear. With ex-charter units common, a survey distinguishing private from fleet history is worthwhile before committing.
