The CSY 44 Walk-Through is a heavy-displacement centre-cockpit cutter built by Caribbean Sailing Yachts in the United States from 1977 to 1981 for the demands of offshore liveaboard life. Derived from earlier Pilothouse and Walkover models, she pairs a solid fibreglass hull with a Walk-Through passage aft of the saloon to a private master cabin. On the used market she attracts full-time liveaboards and bluewater voyagers who value volume and ruggedness over speed.

The defining layout is the Walk-Through: from the secure centre cockpit you descend to a spacious saloon with a large charter-grade galley to starboard, then follow the starboard passage past a navigation station and engine room to a master aft cabin with double berth, private head, and separate shower. A second head and V-berth sit forward for guests. A pilothouse version was also offered originally, and most boats are cutters though a ketch rig appears. What to Inspect
The large cabin house windows are prone to leaking if they have not been professionally re-bedded, so check frames for staining or weeping at the seal window leaks. Original aluminium fuel tanks can suffer bottom corrosion; smell and sound the tank tops and ask whether they were replaced. Despite their size, the heavy stainless chainplates are not immune to crevice corrosion—look for rust or moisture at the deck where they pass through chainplate corrosion. Many CSY hulls from this era were prone to osmotic blistering, so a survey should include hull moisture testing below the waterline. Finally, many original Perkins 4-154 or 4-236 engines are reaching the end of their service life and may require a costly repower, so verify hours and compression.
