The Victoria 26, originally conceptualized as the "Frances," stands as the seminal design of naval architect Chuck Paine. Developed in the mid1970s, the design was famously drafted while Paine was working for Dick Carter, intended to be a small, offshorecapable vessel that Paine himself could build and sail. While Morris Yachts in the United States produced the design as the Frances 26, the British iteration—built primarily by Northshore Yachts and marketed by Victoria Marine—became the Victoria 26. This doubleended, longkeel cruiser serves as the benchmark for "pocket voyagers," offering a degree of seaworthiness typically reserved for vessels much larger in scale. The model’s lineage is directly tied to the subsequent Victoria 30 and Victoria 34, which expanded on the same aesthetic and structural principles.
