The Morgan Out Island 28 serves as the entry point into Charles Morgan’s renowned "Out Island" series, a line of vessels that prioritized interior volume and shallowwater capability over the racing aesthetics of the era. Introduced in the mid1970s, the Out Island 28 was designed to offer the accommodations of a much larger yacht within a 28foot footprint. Unlike its predecessor, the performanceoriented Morgan 28, the Out Island variant features a beamier hull, a shoaldraft long keel, and a focus on coastal cruising comfort. It was the quintessential "pocket cruiser" for the Florida Keys and the Bahamas, where its 3foot, 3inch draft allowed access to anchorages unreachable by more traditional finkeel designs.
