The Laguna 24 ST, designed by naval architect W. Shad Turner, represents the highperformance evolution of the original Laguna 24 series. Introduced in the mid1980s by Laguna Yachts, the "ST" designation primarily denotes the "Tall Rig" or "Super Tall" masthead configuration, distinguishing it from the earlier fractionalrigged Laguna 24S. This model was a significant step in Bill Downing’s effort to bridge the gap between trailerable weekenders and spirited club racers. The hull is a versatile monohull that shares its genetic lineage with the Windrose 24 and the Balboa 24, utilizing a highvolume fiberglass mold that prioritizes interior living space without entirely sacrificing the agility Turner was known for. Production of the 24 ST continued until the company’s transition in 1986, after which the design was briefly resurrected by Classic Yachts.
