The Seidelmann 245 represents a refined evolution in Bob Seidelmann’s quest to produce competitive, accessible racer-cruisers. Introduced in the early 1980s as a successor or "big sister" to the Bruce Kirby-designed Seidelmann 24, the 245 was penned by Bob Seidelmann himself. It captures the transition of the brand from pure IOR-influenced performance toward a more balanced "pocket cruiser" identity. Built in Berlin, New Jersey, the 245 utilized a solid fiberglass hull and a balsa-cored deck, a construction method that was standard for the era but executed with the specific rig-tuning insights of a world-class sailmaker.
