The Najad 460 is a Judel/Vrolijk–designed center-cockpit sloop built on Orust, Sweden from 2000, a 45-foot 8-inch cruiser with the volume and finish that suit long-term coastal or offshore living. On the used market she appears in owner three-cabin layouts more commonly, though both layout families are available, and ex-charter examples are common. Shopping one means weighing a well-engineered hull against a few documented systems quirks.

Buyers will most often find the owner three-cabin arrangement, with two separate cabins forward of the mast and a private aft cabin, while ex-charter boats are also a frequent sight. The flexible interior offers a modified “B” plan with a starboard U-shaped kitchen and a settee convertible to a sea berth, a forward-facing nav station beside an L-shaped dinette, and an aft cabin with its own head and shower. Alternative bow configurations trade the bunk cabin for a more spacious forward berth, a small settee, and added storage. The center-cockpit layout places a large hatch and two dorade vents over the aft cabin, keeping that space airy rather than stale.
Equipment and Common Upgrades

What to Inspect
Documented issues focus on locker drainage and electrical placement. Obvious corrosion appeared on the propane tank fittings, suggesting the aft locker was either getting inordinately wet or not draining properly; the drains on these lockers have since been enlarged anchor, so check whether the upgrade was done. The master AC breakers were in a sealed box in a cockpit locker that will inevitably see some dampness, and Najad will locate them belowdecks by request. DC fuses sat in a dark spot under the nav seat, and some untinned wire remains in the DC system anchor — inspect for corrosion at those connections. The DC-system installation is otherwise very neat, and access to mechanical systems is excellent.
