The Allures 51.9 is a 52foot aluminum bluewater cruising sailboat and the flagship of the French builder Allures Yachting, designed by Olivier Racoupeau of Cabinet Berret – Racoupeau and introduced as the direct successor to the earlier Allures 51 and 52. Inspired by those predecessors, it has become a benchmark in the world of 50 to 55foot tall ships and was voted Best FullSize Cruiser by Cruising World for 2025. Built around an integral centerboard and twin rudders, it is conceived for longdistance voyaging where safety, comfort, autonomy, and performance must coexist.

Allures 51.9 Buyer's Guide

The Allures 51.9 is the flagship aluminum bluewater cruiser from Allures Yachting, introduced as the successor to the Allures 51 and 52 and designed by Olivier Racoupeau. On the brokerage market it presents as a modern, well-equipped voyager with a centerboard and twin rudders, aimed at long-distance cruising for two with guest capacity at port. Shopping one means weighing layout consistency against a list of commonly fitted cruising gear and a short set of documented construction points to verify.

Layouts on the Used Market

Owner three-cabin layouts are the more common on the used market, but both are available; ex-charter examples are common. The documented interior is a single layout version: a full-width aft cabin with private bathroom, a forward double guest cabin, a cabin with two bunk beds, and one spacious shared bathroom, sleeping six. The open-plan living area combines saloon, chart table for two, and a large U-shaped galley at the companionway foot. A technical area with washing machine and storage sits in the passage to the aft cabin. The cockpit is nearly 6 meters long, split into a relaxation zone for 8–10, a helm station with twin wheels, and a secure swim platform, with two-part tables for safe movement.

Equipment and Common Upgrades

Used boats commonly carry a watermaker, air conditioning, solar, code zero, spinnaker or asymmetric spinnaker, hot water, bimini, hardtop, swim platform, and a short-handed setup. The standard rig is a cutter with in-mast furling main and triple headsails on the reviewed example; a walk-in engine room houses a Volvo Penta 110 hp diesel (later boats moved to Nanni). A 24-volt system with lithium bank, Fischer Panda generator, bow and stern thrusters, and cork decks from MarineCork appear on documented examples. Since April 2025 a new hardtop option and dark woodwork interior joined the spec, but these are not prevalent across the existing fleet.

What to Inspect

The documented records show no recurrent defects, but construction facts deserve survey attention. An aluminum watertight bulkhead at the front is a structural safety item; confirm it is intact and unsealed by modification. The deck-to-hull joint integrity should be checked given the composite deck mated to aluminum hull. All essential systems—hull passages, fuel and water, electrical—are designed for access, which aids inspection of the walk-in engine room and technical area.

Availability and Buyer's Takeaway

Typical markets for the Allures 51.9 are Spain, the United States, and France. When evaluating a boat, confirm the engine brand (Volvo versus Nanni), the presence of commonly fitted autonomy gear (watermaker, solar, air-con), and the condition of the centerboard trunk and twin-rudder bearings. Verify the forward bulkhead and deck joint, and match the layout to owner three-cabin or ex-charter examples as available.

  • Confirm engine: Volvo Penta D3 or later Nanni
  • Inspect forward aluminum watertight bulkhead and deck-to-hull joint
  • Verify centerboard and twin-rudder operation
  • Check for commonly fitted watermaker, solar, air-con, hardtop
  • Match cabin layout to three-cabin owner or ex-charter version
