The Pointer 22 is a 6.50-metre road-transportable crossover built by Jachtwerf Heeg in Holland from 2017, designed by Peter Bosgraaf as the smaller, more flexible sister to the Pointer 25. Used Pointer 22s appear as light daysailers with a lifting ballast centreboard, twin cassettes of rudder blades, and owner-chosen propulsion — a boat that rewards a careful look at her appendages and her sparse stowage rather than at luxury fit-out.

There is no standard layout tier data for the brokerage stock, but the design itself spans a cockpit seating six with removable backrests and an interior the builder describes as very empty and sparse, with berths for two to four as an option. Later-series boats moved the companionway cut-out further forward and gained a remodelled cabin floor so two more long berths can be fitted below if required; construction number 1 demanded contortions to enter the cabin, so a used hull’s build sequence matters to livability.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
The boat can be had with outboard petrol or electric, or a fixed pod drive — the Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 POD with folding prop and a 26V lithium battery is the inboard choice offered by the builder, and a Torqeedo 1103 or 4 hp Yamaha outboard are listed options. For sail, a fixed carbon bowsprit carries an optional 28-square-metre gennaker or a furling Code Zero of 19 square metres, and a self-tacking jib can replace the overlapping genoa. Treat any as possible rather than expected on a given used Pointer 22.
What to Inspect
The twin rudder blades drew the sharpest critique in testing: YACHT found the prototype’s blades were obviously too large and hardly pre-balanced, with angles poorly tuned and not adjustable, and the boat showed a considerable tendency to bear off to windward especially under Code Zero — on a viewing, exercise the cassettes through their travel and check whether the blades show uneven leading-edge wear or any owner attempt at angle modification. Stowage is a weak point on this design: confirm there are no forepeak lockers under the thwarts and that the anchor locker and stern compartment are small, and look for owner-added bins that may obscure structural access. On early hulls, verify cabin entry is usable rather than a contortion, and on any boat note the flatter series anchor locker versus a protruding prototype unit in the forward berth footwell.
