Designed in the mid1970s, the Olympic 42—often referred to as the Olympic Adventure 42—stands as a compelling example of classic Greek yacht building married to North American naval architecture. Conceived by the highly respected Canadian designer Ted Brewer and built by Olympic Marine S.A. at their historic facility in Lavrio, Greece, this centercockpit cruiser was engineered explicitly for the rigors of longdistance, bluewater voyaging. Historically, Olympic Marine built robust hulls to tap into both European and North American export markets. In the context of its era, the Olympic 42 was built to compete directly with premier cruising designs of the time, sharing a strong structural and stylistic lineage with Brewer’s highly successful Whitby 42.
