Design and Construction

Jensen's hull and deck are solid fibreglass, with no cored laminate in either skin built by the Danish yard Nordborg Bådebyggeri A/S. The 3.21 length-to-beam ratio is narrow for the era, and the 829 pounds-per-inch immersion rate explains the load-dependent draft figures. The yard offered different keel alternatives: one draws 5.09 to 5.39 feet, a shoaler version 4.27 to 4.57 feet different keel alternatives. Wetted surface is about 279 square feet.

Rig and Handling

The fractional sloop carries 441 square feet of sail. Jib and genoa sheets run 29.5 feet at 3/8 inch, mainsheet 73.8 feet, spinnaker sheets 65 feet mainsheet is a long 73.8-foot line. A Volvo Penta MD2020 on saildrive gives a calculated 5.7 knots; theoretical hull speed is 6.8. Capsize screening is 1.78, Motion Comfort Ratio 26.3.

Accommodations

The 25.92-foot waterline and 9.19-foot beam give a modest footprint for two or three aboard; the shoal keel broadens where she can lie.

Known Issues

The saildrive leg penetrates the hull below the waterline, so a failed seal floods the boat and the diaphragm needs calendar-based replacement regardless of use.

Refits and Ownership

Keel alternative must be identified by the actual fitted unit. The 16-gallon diesel and D1-20 or MD2020 suit the displacement; focus refit on saildrive service and rigging to quoted diameters.

The Verdict

A quietly competent Danish design with a stiff, solid hull and adaptable keel options; the saildrive demands disciplined upkeep.

Pros

  • 31 percent ballast ratio and 1.78 capsize screening value indicate a stiff small hull
  • Solid fibreglass hull and deck avoid cored-laminate moisture risks
  • Keel alternatives span 4.27 to 5.39 feet draft for marina flexibility
  • Documented sheet dimensions simplify rigging renewal

Cons

  • Saildrive leg needs calendar-based seal and diaphragm service to prevent flooding
