Shopping the brokerage market for a used Mirage 33 means looking at a single-season Robert Perry design from 1982, built in Canada and developed into the Mirage 35 in 1983. These are not common boats, and general information is thin, so a buyer needs to know the weak points and the layout variations before stepping aboard a listing.

Every Mirage 33 shares the same essential footprint: a bright, spacious interior with light wood and teak-and-holly floors, six-foot-five headroom, and a port dinette that seats four and converts to a double. The starboard settee is for conversation rather than dinner, and the quarter berth is wide and deep. Two foredeck arrangements exist — one with an anchor locker accessed by a door, the other routing rode and chain below to a locker ahead of the V-berth — and both swallow over 200 feet of ground tackle. The cockpit is roomy enough for a fold-down table but tight around a large wheel close to the benches, and the lazarette is genuinely huge.
Equipment and Common Upgrades

What to Inspect
The most serious items are below the waterline and at the bow. Gate valves were fitted on most 33s and are prone to failure, so confirm they have been replaced with proper seacocks anchor. That bow plate where the forestay meets the hull has failed for some skippers, dropping the rig aft into the cockpit anchor. The bilge is extremely shallow with no installed pump, relying on a manual gusher in the cockpit, and one owner has flagged a too-small 7/8-inch shaft and a propeller strut broken twice over twelve years anchor. Deck grazing and spidering are normal, but check for soft spots or delamination.
