The Compis 28 is a foundational example of the Scandinavian "halftonner" era, designed by Bernt Andersson and produced primarily by CompisBåtar AB in Kristinehamn, Sweden, starting in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s. Conceived during a period when the International Offshore Rule (IOR) influenced cruiserracer design, the Compis 28 was intended to offer a competitive edge on the racecourse while maintaining the robust seaworthiness required for the choppy waters of the Baltic Sea. With over 600 hulls produced, it became one of Sweden’s most successful production sailboats, prized for its build quality and predictable handling. The boat features a traditional fin keel and a spade rudder, a configuration that was contemporary for its time and contributed to its reputation as a nimble yet stable family cruiser.
