Arcona 50 Buyer's Guide
The Arcona 50 entered production in 2022 as Arcona Yachts' first 50-footer and the brand's step into the luxury performance cruiser sector, designed by Jeppesen & Pons after the yard's long-time designer passed in 2018. On the brokerage market these are recent, award-winning boats — European Yacht of the Year 2024 — and a buyer is looking at a modern, heavily optioned flagship rather than a legacy design.
Layouts on the Used Market
Owner three-cabin arrangements are the more common on the used market, though both layout types appear, and ex-charter examples are common. The standard plan gives a forward owner's suite with kingsize berth and en-suite shower, two aft double cabins convertible to twins, and a guest heads with separate shower. An alternative interior swaps in U-shaped saloon seating with added worktop space, and a second galley layout closes off companionway access to link galley and saloon. Berth count runs six to eight depending on configuration.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
Commonly fitted gear on the used Arcona 50 includes a furling main, electric winches and a short-handed setup — the push-button sailing package with powered sheet winches and hydraulic backstay that makes her manageable by two. Less commonly seen but frequent owner additions are a code zero, spinnaker or asymmetric spinnaker flown off the carbon bowsprit, a bow thruster, and a liferaft stowed in its cockpit-floor well. A generator is an occasional upgrade, and the lithium bank on equipped boats reaches 640Ah at 24V for extended off-grid use.
What to Inspect
Loss of one rudder blade still leaves steering authority through the other independent Jefa-linked quadrant anchor, and the forward and aft vacuum-infused composite bulkheads are watertight to shield the cabin from the bow locker and the garage stowage. The keel is bolted directly to a galvanised steel frame attached to solid GRP stringers, a long-standing Arcona backbone technique worth checking for corrosion or bolt integrity. Note the shallow coamings and flat coachroof leave little cockpit protection, and there is currently no option to close off the transom. The aft heads door has been reported tight to close in the as-delivered layout.
