V kombinaci s výtlakem kolem 3 484 liber to dává poměr zátěže k výtlaku, který spíše předurčuje loď k živému chování a snadné ovladatelnosti než k plavbám na těžkých expedičních lodích. Poměr délky k šířce (L/B) 2,66 a poměr výtlaku k délce (D/L) 187 řadí tento model mezi štíhlé pobřežní plachetnice se středním objemem; smáčená plocha trupu je přibližně 161 čtverečních stop. Byly postaveny tři varianty kýlu, všechny s litinovými konstrukcemi: ploutvový kýl s ponorem 3,28 až 3,58 stopy v závislosti na zatížení, křídlový kýl s ponorem 4,27 až 4,57 stopy a kýl s ploutvovým závěsem, který se zvedne pouze do výšky 1,97 až 2,27 stopy a umožňuje přístup do mělkých marin, kam ostatní lodě nemají konkurenceschopnou hloubku. Oplachtění a ovládání
Edel 6 je postaven s zlomkovou takeláží a poměrem plochy plachet k výtlaku (SA/D) 19,25, což naznačuje, že na svou velikost rychle akceleruje ve větru. Velikost otěží je skromná a jednotná: otěže kosatky a genovy jsou dlouhé přibližně 21,8 stop s průměrem 3/8 palce, hlavní otěže mají délku 54,5 stop se stejným průměrem a spinakrové otěže jsou dlouhé 48 stop.
