The Zuanelli 34 is a classic example of Italian maritime craftsmanship marrying American naval architecture. Conceived during a transition in European yacht design, when builders began prioritizing internal volume and light displacement for charter fleets, Cantiere Zuanelli took a different path. Founded in 1972 on the shores of Lake Garda by Pietro Zuanelli, the yard built its reputation on solid, semicustom construction. In 1984, Zuanelli acquired the molds and building rights for the Alpa 34—a design penned in 1976 by the legendary design office of Sparkman & Stephens as Design Number 2242. Rebranded as the Zuanelli 34, the yacht went on to become the shipyard's most successful and produced model, with approximately seventy hulls completed over its production run. This vessel represents a purist's approach to cruiserracer design, appealing directly to sailors who value structural integrity, tracking stability, and elegant joinery over the highvolume layouts of the massmarket era.
