Two principal interior plans appear. The two-cabin version has a large but quite flat aft berth under the deep cockpit floor that extends to the starboard side into unused space. The twin double aft-cabin layout pushes the whole arrangement forward because those berths are only 1.85 m long, and on that version cockpit stowage is limited. In every layout the saloon berths are straight, parallel and 1.88 m long, and the forecabin is basic with a V-berth set low in the hull. Headroom feel is shaped by a shiny moulded headlining with only one removable panel, and Viko used no interior mouldings apart from the headlining and heads, which helps stowage and outer-hull access.

Equipment and Common Upgrades

On the used market these boats commonly carry heating, an inverter, asymmetric spinnaker, bimini, cockpit shower, AIS, autopilot, chartplotter, gennaker, furling main, dodger, swim platform and teak decks — all commonly fitted rather than exceptional. The bowsprit was included as standard, but the furling system, cockpit table and bathing platform (also offered hinge-down) were extras from new, so their presence signals a better-spec example or an owner addition. The standard Yanmar 15 hp with saildrive could be upgraded to a 30 hp unit, and the taller 1.5-metre-longer mast with around twelve square metres more sail was a paid option; test boats often carried that rig with high-performance Dacron sails.

What to Inspect

Documented known issues should frame any survey. The 4:1 mainsheet purchase is too weak as standard and could not hold tension when the breeze built, so check for an upgraded tackle. Wood finish varied widely between boats and looked rough in places — inspect joinery closely. On deck, non-slip coverage on the coachroof left sizeable smooth areas, and some stanchion bases showed early rusting. The test boat's mast gate would not stay in place; rudder bearings were stiff; and steering cable slack needed a bottlescrew to tension. Below, look for absent door catches, smooth wet-prone companionway steps with nothing to hold them up for engine access, no galley crash bar, and a total absence of engine insulation. Also verify rigging tension, since an under-tensioned D1 lower shroud was seen waving in the breeze.

For a buyer, the checklist is short but specific: confirm which draft fin (1.95 m standard or 1.60 m shallow) suits your waters; verify the mainsheet and rig match the taller option if performance matters; budget for engine insulation regardless of hp; and treat rough wood finish, limited non-slip and rusting stanchion bases as negotiation points rather than deal-breakers.
