The Dart 18 is a landmark in the evolution of the racing catamaran, striking a balance between raw speed and operational simplicity. Launched in 1976 and designed by the legendary Rodney March—the naval architect behind the Olympicclass Tornado—the Dart 18 was envisioned as a "strictly onedesign" vessel that eliminated the complexity of daggerboards and booms. This philosophy made it a favorite for both club racers and highlevel international competitors, eventually leading to its recognition as an International Class by World Sailing. Built with highquality Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), its hulls are designed with sufficient buoyancy to allow for both solo and doublehanded sailing, though it is most commonly raced with a crew of two.
