The shipyard’s founder, Rinus Zaadnoordijk, coined the name "Compromis" to reflect the delicate balancing act required of a family cabin boat: merging comfortable accommodations, safe handling, structural integrity, and affordability. Designed inhouse during the yard's early era of cabinboat development, the Compromis 850 was engineered specifically to tame the choppy, shallow inland and coastal waters of Northern Europe 3. It quickly gained a reputation as a highly functional "space miracle," proving that a boat under thirty feet could comfortably accommodate a family for extended cruising.
