The Bente 39 on the brokerage market is a 39-foot Judel/Vrolijk & Co. pilot saloon built from 2019 by Bente Yachts, with physical construction outsourced to Yacht Services in Poland. It is a lightweight planing cruiser-racer with a glass-roofed doghouse and a protected cockpit, offered in both owner and ex-charter flavours. Buyers should understand that this is not a conventional cruiser: around 350kg of interior can be pulled for racing, and the boat straddles fast charter, short-handed, and ocean-racing roles.
Layouts on the Used Market
Owner three-cabin layouts are the more common on the used market, but both are available; ex-charter examples are common. The two-cabin version tested carried a large deep cockpit locker, while the saloon seats seven and includes a 2.1m berth to port, though headroom there is seated-only. The forward master cabin is minimalist with fabric in place of doors, and the aft cabin offers a large double bunk under the cockpit with a hatch through to the cockpit above. A separate wet room and a beam-spread galley with central fridge complete the belowdeck plan. The pilot station sits offset to starboard at cockpit level.

Commonly fitted gear on used Bente 39s centres on self-sufficiency and shelter. A hardtop and dodger with the transparent fixed sprayhood are usual, as are bimini and cockpit shower for warm-weather use. Sail-handling upgrades commonly seen include a gennaker or asymmetric spinnaker and electric winches, which matter for short-handed crews working the under-dodger lines. A teak deck is a common cosmetic upgrade rather than a structural one.
What to Inspect
The one documented handling caveat is that the hull shape can make sailing upwind in waves uncomfortable aboard anchor. Structurally, the polycarbonate doghouse windows were pressure-tested to 3.5 tonnes per square metre and the frame is carbon pressed into the deck mould, so check the glass seals and frame bonding for leaks or crazing. The majority of seacocks sit in one aft locker for easy access — confirm they operate and show no weepage. With the saloon sole lowered 5cm on production boats and no liners used, inspect the sole support and any removed-furniture tracks if the boat was raced.
