Born at the dawn of the 1990s, the Atlantic 44 is a direct product of the rapid expansion of the Mediterranean yacht charter industry. Designed by the prolific French naval architect Daniel Andrieu, this 42.95foot cruiserracer was built under license from Jeanneau by Olympic Marine S.A. at their yard in Sounion, Greece. Conceptually, the boat is a direct sibling to the highly regarded Jeanneau Sun Magic 44 (later rebranded as the Sun Odyssey 44). Rather than importing hulls from France, Olympic Marine produced the Atlantic 44 locally, tailoring the construction to withstand the grueling realities of bareboat chartering in the Aegean Sea, where punishing seasonal Meltemi winds and intense solar exposure demand structural resilience. Today, many of these former charter workhorses have transitioned into the hands of budgetconscious cruisers seeking a capable, offshoreready hull with a proven pedigree.
