The LaserPerformance Vago, designed by Jo Richards and launched in the mid2000s, represents a strategic pivot toward durability and versatility in the performance dinghy market. Engineered to bridge the gap between entrylevel trainers and highperformance skiffs, the Vago is constructed using a sophisticated rotomolded polyethylene TriLam process. This material choice makes the hull exceptionally robust, capable of withstanding the rigors of beach landings and sailing school environments that would typically fracture a traditional fiberglass laminate. The design philosophy centers on a "multirole" platform; the boat is uniquely capable of being sailed singlehandedly with a mainsail and asymmetric spinnaker, or doublehanded with the addition of a jib and a trapeze. Its subchine hull shape provides a stable platform for beginners while allowing more experienced sailors to plane early in moderate breezes.
