The Oyster 26 represents a foundational chapter in the history of Oyster Marine, marking a period when the builder sought to apply its emerging standards of robust construction and seaworthiness to a smaller, more accessible cruiser. Launched in 1978 and designed by the esteemed firm Holman & Pye, the Oyster 26 was intended to be a "little ship" rather than a lightweight racer. While modern Oyster Yachts focus almost exclusively on largescale luxury vessels, the Oyster 26 remains highly regarded in the used market as a premium pocket cruiser that punches well above its weight class in terms of build quality. Approximately 65 units were produced during its production run, which ended in the early 1980s. According to the Oyster Yachts Heritage archives, the model was built by Landamores in Wroxham, establishing a partnership between the builder and the yard that would last for decades.
