The Moorings 463 represents an influential chapter in the evolution of massproduction performancecruising yachts. Introduced in 1996 as the designated threecabin, threehead charter version of the Beneteau Oceanis 461, the yacht was the result of a powerhouse collaboration between naval architect Bruce Farr and interior stylist Armel Briand. Farr Yacht Design was tasked with delivering a hull that would marry the highvolume interior requirements of the global bareboat charter trade with the respectable, predictable sailing characteristics expected of a premier offshore cruiser. The design succeeded on both fronts, earning Cruising World magazine’s 1997 "Boat of the Year: Best Value, FullSize Cruiser" award. While built by Beneteau in France to the standards of their Oceanis range, the "Moorings 463" designation identified boats specifically optimized for the rigorous demands of charter fleets, featuring a robust, multicabin layout designed to maximize passenger utility and system redundancy.
