The Island Sharpie 26 is a distinct production fiberglass adaptation of the Norwalk Islands Sharpie series designed by the legendary Bruce Kirby, most famous for creating the Laser. Blending 19thcentury American workboat aesthetics with 20thcentury performance engineering, this 26foot coastal cruiser was specifically manufactured by Island Boatshop to offer a "thinwater" specialist capable of sailing where most keelboats cannot venture. Unlike the many plywood/epoxy versions of this design built by amateurs, the Island Sharpie 26 brought industrial consistency to the catketch configuration, featuring a ballasted centerboard and unstayed masts that simplify the sailing experience for solo or shorthanded crews.
