Launched in the mid1990s and designed by Jacques Valer, the Tiger was a departure from the asymmetrical, skeghulled designs like the iconic Hobie 16. Instead, it embraced highaspect daggerboards, sophisticated sail plans, and a wavepiercing hull profile. Built primarily by Hobie Cat Europe, the Tiger became the benchmark for the F18 box rule, a class designed to allow different manufacturers to compete on equal footing within specific measurement parameters.
