Launched in 1979 as the flagship of the shortlived but highly productive British shipyard Cobra Yachts, the Cobra 1050 represents the pinnacle of naval architect David Feltham’s design philosophy. Engineered during an era of transition in European production boatbuilding, the 1050 was conceived as a highly capable offshore family cruiser. It was designed to offer the internal volume and comfort of a much larger vessel while maintaining manageable handling characteristics under a small family crew. While its smaller stablemates, the Cobra 750 and 850, gained popularity as coastal pocket cruisers, the 1050 was meant to tackle bluewater crossings—a feat proven by multiple documented transatlantic voyages. After the original builder closed its doors in 1982, the hull molds were acquired by Seawolf Yachts. The design continued production under the Seawolf banner with minor deck and cabintrunk modifications, eventually being designated as the Seawolf 34 and Seawolf 35.
