The Carter 35 is a midsized cruiserracer designed by the legendary Dick Carter during the late 1970s, a period often described as the "Golden Age" of offshore racing. Developed as a larger, more robust sibling to the highly successful Carter 30, the 35 reflects the design philosophy that made Carter a household name in the IOR (International Offshore Rule) era: a focus on upwind efficiency, balanced handling, and innovative hull forms. While many of Carter’s designs were intended as pure racing machines—such as the One Ton Cupwinning Tina—the Carter 35 was purposefully marketed as a "wellmannered cruiser with racing potential," according to Yachting Monthly.
