In the late 1970s, the partnership between John Baker Ltd. and the yachting world took a highperformance turn when the yard commissioned renowned racing designer Ron Holland to create the Super Seal 26. Launched in 1978, this model represented a departure from the earlier Angus Primrosedesigned Seal cruisers, prioritizing speed and windward ability without sacrificing the shallowdraft versatility that defined the Baker brand. The Super Seal 26 is widely regarded as one of the most successful small cruiserracers of its era, effectively bridging the gap between a family weekend cruiser and a "giantkiller" club racer. With its vertically lifting daggerboardstyle keel, the boat offers a draught of just 1 foot 3 inches with the keel up, making it a favorite for "creek crawling" in the shallow estuaries of the UK’s East Coast and the Solent.
