Designed by the legendary David Thomas and launched in the early 1980s by Marine Projects in Plymouth, the Sigma 41 was conceived as the flagship of the Sigma range. Emerging from the same production line as the renowned Moody line of cruisers and Princess motor yachts, the model was a step toward a more substantial, offshorecapable cruiserracer compared to its smaller, more raceoriented siblings. While the Sigma 33 and 38 gained fame as iconic onedesign classes, the 41 was intended to bridge the gap between competitive club racing and longdistance bluewater cruising. The yacht's history is rooted in the "Sigma Yachts" marketing division, which aimed to dominate the performance cruiser market of the 1980s, as detailed in the historical records of Darglow Engineering.
