The Omega 28 is a quintessential example of the Scandinavian "half-tonner" era, emerging in 1976 as a more accessible sibling to the legendary Omega 42. Often mistaken for a Peter Norlin design due to the brand's long association with him, the Omega 28 was actually penned by Peter Ståhle, who designed the vessel with a more pronounced V-shaped hull section than the typical Norlin shapes of the time. Built primarily by AB Bröderna Ohlsson and later marketed by Ingvar Aronsson, approximately 250 to 300 units were produced between 1976 and the early 1980s. The boat was conceived to bridge the gap between a pure archipelago racer and a comfortable family cruiser, a balance that has helped it maintain a dedicated following in the Swedish and North Sea markets for nearly five decades.
