In the highstakes arena of singlehanded ocean racing, few proving grounds are as relentless as the Classe Mini 6.50. Launched in 2014, the Ofcet 6.50 emerged as a disruptive force that redefined the "Serie" (production) division. Designed by the celebrated naval architect Etienne Bertrand and built by Chantier Ofcet (initially operating under the marine service firm Prépa Nautic) in La Rochelle, France, the boat was engineered to challenge the longstanding dominance of oldergeneration production designs. The model immediately secured legendary status by clinching first and second places in the grueling 2015 Mini Transat under skippers Ian Lipinski and Julien Pulvé, the latter recording an astonishing 24hour run of 278.7 nautical miles at an average speed of 11.6 knots. Built as a direct response to the evolution of semiscow hull profiles, the Ofcet 6.50 remains a highly relevant, ultrahighperformance racing machine that represents a critical transitional era in modern offshore yacht design.
