Linjett 35 Buyer's Guide
The Linjett 35 is a 35-foot Swedish-built cruiser from Rosättra Båtvarv, designed by Mats Gustafsson and produced from around 1989 to 2006, with 102 built. On the used market she appears as a well-established Scandinavian fractional sloop whose 1997 update added an integrated stern platform and two-spreader rig found on later hulls.
Layouts on the Used Market
Every Linjett 35 shares the same core accommodation: a varnished mahogany interior with six berths, 1.88 m headroom, an L-shaped galley to port of the companionway with twin sinks, a double aft cabin behind the galley, a head with locker to starboard, and a separate navigation station forward of the head. The saloon has two settee berths and the forepeak is enclosed, with the starboard berth shortened for a locker. Boats from 1997 onward carry the integrated stern swim platform and two-spreader rig; earlier hulls lack these.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
Power and energy centers on a Volvo Penta VP 2030 or Yanmar 3GM diesel of about 28 hp on a saildrive, with some later boats showing a 27 hp Yanmar 3GM30 and folding two-blade prop. For sail handling, a UK Syversen wardrobe with gennaker and snuffer plus a Stack Pack mainsail cover is a meaningful upgrade that simplifies downwind and shorthanded sailing. Navigation is served by the dedicated chart table below. Comfort features include the teak deck and warm teak interior with inlay work carried from new.
What to Inspect
The keel is a lead fin fixed with eight acid-resistant stainless bolts to a solid 25 mm laminate reinforced by internal floors, so check that joint for any staining or bolt corrosion. The hull and deck are hand-laid balsa sandwich, meaning the teak deck overlay and any deck penetrations deserve close scrutiny for moisture ingress to the core. The 1997 change to an integrated stern platform should be inspected for structural bonding at the transom.
Availability and Buyer's Takeaway
For a shopper, the Linjett 35 is a sensible used buy where a documented keel-bolt and core condition check passes.
- Confirm keel-bolt and laminate condition at the fin attachment
- Test saildrive seals and folding prop operation
- Survey teak deck and balsa core for moisture
- Verify two-spreader rig and stern platform on 1997+ hulls
- Inspect varnished interior for structural and cosmetic wear
