The Freedom 35, designed by David Pedrick and introduced in the early 1990s, represents a significant evolution in the brand's storied history of unstayed-mast cruising yachts. While earlier Freedom models were often characterized by their quirky, double-masted cat-ketch rigs or Gary Mull’s more conservative silhouettes, the Pedrick-designed 35 brought a new level of sophistication and performance to the "easy-sailing" concept. Built by Tillotson-Pearson Inc. (TPI) in Rhode Island, the 35 was designed to provide the interior volume and speed of a modern cruiser without the daunting complexity of standing rigging. It served as a bridge between the smaller Freedom 32 and the larger Freedom 38, offering a more refined hull shape than its predecessors.
