The Evolution 25, a quintessential product of the late 1970s British cruiserracer boom, represents the core design philosophy of Julian Everitt during his tenure with Evolution Yachts Ltd. in Southampton. Designed to bridge the gap between highperformance racing and familyoriented coastal cruising, the 25 is frequently categorized alongside its slightly later sibling, the Evolution 26. In fact, historical records from Julian Everitt Design suggest the two models share a nearidentical DNA, with the "25" designation often applied to early production units or those measured strictly by their 25foot deck length rather than their 25.75foot overall length. Built at Willments Shipyard, the vessel was a pioneer in the use of fully retractable lifting keels, a feature that allowed the boat to "take the ground" in the tidal harbors of the Solent while maintaining the pointing ability of a fixedkeel yacht.
