The Evolution 25, a quintessential product of the late 1970s British cruiser-racer boom, represents the core design philosophy of Julian Everitt during his tenure with Evolution Yachts Ltd. in Southampton. Designed to bridge the gap between high-performance racing and family-oriented coastal cruising, the 25 is frequently categorized alongside its slightly later sibling, the Evolution 26. In fact, historical records from Julian Everitt Design suggest the two models share a near-identical DNA, with the "25" designation often applied to early production units or those measured strictly by their 25-foot deck length rather than their 25.75-foot overall length. Built at Willments Shipyard, the vessel was a pioneer in the use of fully retractable lifting keels, a feature that allowed the boat to "take the ground" in the tidal harbors of the Solent while maintaining the pointing ability of a fixed-keel yacht.
