The Dufour 530 is a 53foot cruising yacht built by Dufour Yachts in La Rochelle, France, and designed by Felci Yacht Design as the successor to the widely popular Dufour 520. Launched in 2020, it was the first of Dufour’s nine models spanning 31 to 61 feet to receive a hybrid treatment that fuses the brand’s Performance and Grand Large lineages in a single new hull. International marine press voted it yacht of the year, and SAIL magazine named it winner in the monohull flagship category of its Best Boats contest.

Dufour 530 Buyer's Guide

Shopping the brokerage market for a Dufour 530 means choosing among a 2020-onward Felci-designed 53-footer that replaced the popular 520 and was built in La Rochelle, France. Both private three-cabin owner layouts and four-cabin charter layouts are well represented used, and ex-charter examples are common, so buyers should decide early whether a bare-bones Easy charter hull or a better-equipped owner boat suits them.

Layouts on the Used Market

Owner three-cabin and charter four-cabin arrangements appear in good numbers on the resale scene, with ex-charter boats a frequent sight. The 530 was sold in Easy, Ocean, and Performance versions, and the Easy trim was deliberately basic for charter use while Ocean targeted distance cruisers and Performance the club or offshore racer. A used boat’s cabin count, keel choice, and rig hardware should be read together: a four-cabin ex-charter hull likely carries the simpler deck layout, whereas a three-cabin owner boat may retain the split galley, aft nav desk, and fuller systems.

Equipment and Common Upgrades

Power and energy systems are commonly fitted and worth verifying: bow thrusters, inverters, solar, and air conditioning appear on many boats, with lithium batteries and sometimes a genset or watermaker present. Navigation and deck gear usually include chartplotter, autopilot, radar, AIS, and electric winches, while a cockpit shower, swim platform, and bimini are standard creature comforts. Less common but seen are teak decks, furling main, and heating; a dodger, self-tacking jib, freezer, or asymmetric spinnaker and code zero tend to be owner additions rather than factory norms.

What to Inspect

Confirm which of the three keels is fitted — shoal, standard, or performance — and whether the rudder and keel show ground contact from the rated draft. Check the engine variant: standard 75 hp Yanmar with saildrive or upgraded 110 hp Volvo Penta on a straight shaft, and verify the driveline matches the stated rating. A solid-fiberglass hull with infused deck and integrated grid is the construction baseline.

Availability and Buyer's Takeaway

These yachts turn up across Greece, the United States, Italy, Croatia, Martinique, and France. For a buyer, the short checklist is: choose owner versus ex-charter layout deliberately; confirm version (Easy, Ocean, Performance) and its rig/keel; verify engine and drive type; and test all electric winches, thruster, and electronics. A well-selected 530 offers rare accommodation range with a performance-derived hull beneath the cruising deck.
