The Anderson 22 is widely regarded by coastal sailors and traditionalists as one of the most capable pocket cruisers ever produced in the United Kingdom. Designed by the prolific Oliver Lee and built primarily by Anderson, Rigden & Perkins in Whitstable, Kent, between 1970 and 1982, the vessel was intended to bridge the gap between a lightdisplacement daysailer and a serious offshore cruiser. Approximately 170 units were produced, earning a reputation for exceptional seakeeping abilities that defy its modest waterline. The boat's defining characteristic is its heavy, verticaldrop lifting keel with a substantial lead bulb, a feature that provides the stability of a fixedkeel yacht while allowing for the shallowdraft versatility required for East Coast estuary sailing.
