The Neptun 22 is a cornerstone of European sailing history, widely regarded as one of the most successful trailerable pocket cruisers ever produced. Originally launched in 1968 by the German shipyard Neptun-Werft, the model achieved a massive production run exceeding 6,000 units. The boat’s enduring popularity stems from its dual identity: it is compact and light enough to be towed behind a standard family car, yet robust enough for coastal voyaging. Over its decades-long production, the hull underwent significant design shifts, most notably moving from the sleeker "Miglitsch" lines to the more voluminous "Backdecker" (raised deck) configuration introduced in the mid-1970s. According to the historical records of Neptun Yachten, the model’s success paved the way for a large family of siblings, including the smaller Neptun 20 and larger variants like the Neptun 25, 26, 27, and the 31-foot flagship.
