The Elan Impression 45 is a through-and-through cruiser built as the newest version of Elan's mid-sized family cruiser, with production running from 2017 through 2019 and layouts centered on a deck-saloon hull by Humphreys Yacht Design. Layouts on the Used Market
Charter four-cabin layouts are the more common on the used market, but both are available; ex-charter examples are common. Beyond the three- and four-cabin owner versions, the boat was also offered in a two-cabin, two-head couple's layout that opens the quarter-cabin space into a large master stateroom, and in an owner's-forward plan with twin aft cabins. All plans share a saloon, U-shaped galley to port, traditional nav station, and a large aft head with standalone shower that doubles as a wet locker. The two-cabin berth fits under the cockpit sole, so tall buyers should check headroom there.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
Bimini, chartplotter, swim platform, cockpit shower, teak decks, autopilot, furling main, heating, and bow thruster are commonly fitted. A freezer and life raft are often seen, while electric winches and hot water appear as sometimes-or-owner upgrades rather than standard. The standard boat came with artificial teak in the cockpit and on the bathing platform if ordered, upgradable to full real teak; a single electric cabin-top winch, Jefa twin-wheel steering, and spaces for multifunction displays were part of the helm design. Owners could add an Oceanvolt electric engine, a 75-horsepower option, closed cockpit, modular sunbed table, and ambient dimming lighting.
What to Inspect
Documented known issues are limited but worth a look. The sail drive generated rudder vibration with a two-bladed folding prop on the boat tested, described as normal for that setup but a point to confirm on any sail-drive example. On two-cabin layouts the berth beneath the cockpit sole may cause head-banging for tall people. Otherwise the forward cockpit bridge deck is designed so water is unlikely to enter the saloon, and the transom folds down to a swim platform with a molded step and folding ladder.
