The Victoire 855 is a quintessential example of Dutch maritime engineering, designed by the legendary Dick Koopmans Sr. to bridge the gap between a spirited daysailer and a serious coastal cruiser. Introduced as a successor to the popular Victoire 822, the 855 offers a slightly more generous beam and an updated deck profile, yet it remains firmly rooted in the Koopmans philosophy of seaworthiness over fashion. Built by Victoire Jachtbouw in Alkmaar, this 28foot GRP sloop was designed for sailors who prioritize structural integrity and "big boat" handling in a manageable, trailercapable footprint. While the production of new hulls ended with the builder's closure in 2013, the 855 remains a staple of the North Sea and Baltic cruising circuits, prized for its ability to handle heavy weather that would send many modern, lighterdisplacement boats back to the marina.
