The Westerly Discus 33, introduced in 1980, represents a sophisticated evolution of the classic British cruising ethos. Designed by the renowned naval architecture firm Laurent Giles and Partners, the Discus was a refined successor to the original Westerly 33 hull. While the brand name Westerly is also associated with a highperformance custom composite builder based in Santa Ana, California, the Discus 33 is the quintessential product of the United Kingdom’s Westerly Marine Construction. It was designed to bridge the gap between the traditional, heavyset cruisers of the 1970s and the more modern, spacious designs of the 1980s. With approximately 300 units built during its fouryear production run, the Discus established a reputation for "bulletproof" construction and exceptional seakeeping, making it a staple of North Sea and Channel crossings.
