The Spanker 42 is a robust, offshorecapable cruiser born from the collaboration between the legendary British builder Southern Ocean Shipyard Ltd. and the innovative design office of Van de Stadt Design. While Southern Ocean Shipyard is perhaps most famous for the pioneering Gallant 53 and the massive Ocean 71, the Spanker 42 represents a more focused application of E.G. van de Stadt’s "fast cruiser" philosophy. Built during an era when Southern Ocean Shipyard was transitioning to highspecification glassreinforced plastic (GRP) construction, the Spanker 42 was engineered to meet or exceed Lloyd’s standards, ensuring a hull of immense structural integrity.
