Introduced in 1973 by the highly regarded Morgan Yacht Company, the Morgan 36 T represents a fascinating departure from the builder's more famous cruising lineage. While designer Charles Morgan’s Out Island series came to dominate the charter and family cruising sectors with its shallow drafts and massive interior volumes, the 36 T (or "One Ton") was conceived with an entirely different mission: to compete under the aggressive rating formulas of the International Offshore Rule (IOR) 2. Built in a relatively limited run of around 20 to 30 hulls, this model was designed as a serious offshore racercruiser that could hold its own in One Ton fleet racing while still offering a complete, comfortable cruising interior for its owners. Today, the Morgan 36 T stands as a rugged, heavily built classic that serves performanceminded traditionalists who appreciate classic lines, stout construction, and true windward capability.
