The Moody 36S, introduced in 1986, represents a pivotal era in British boatbuilding where the shipyard sought to balance its reputation for stout, centercockpit cruisers with a more modern, performanceoriented aftcockpit layout. Designed by Bill Dixon and built by Marine Projects in Plymouth, the 36S was the successor to the earlier Angus Primrosedesigned Moody 36. While it shares a similar numerical designation, the "S" variant is an entirely different vessel, featuring a more contemporary hull form, improved foil designs, and a focus on spirited coastal and offshore sailing. According to the Moody Owners Association, the model was produced until 1990, serving as a more agile alternative to the centercockpit Moody 346 and 376 models of the same period.
