The Maxi 38+ represents a refined evolution of Pelle Petterson’s design philosophy, blending the safety of a centercockpit configuration with the performanceoriented hull forms that define Swedish boatbuilding. Produced during the era when Maxi Yachts was integrated with Nimbus Boats, the 38+ was positioned as a premium coastal and offshore cruiser. It is distinguished from the earlier Maxi 38 primarily by its integrated sugarscoop transom, which extends the waterline and provides a more modern profile. As with most of Petterson’s designs, the vessel strikes a deliberate balance between a highvolume, mahoganyclad interior and a slippery, easily driven hull that avoids the sluggishness often associated with centercockpit cruisers.
