The Maestro 38 represents a highwater mark of the classic Finnish performance cruiser ethos, emerging from the same lineage of coldwater craftsmanship that defined the golden era of builders like Nautor Swan and Baltic Yachts. Conceived in 1985 by the celebrated naval architect Eivind Still and built by Maestro Boats in Ostrobothnia—historically close to the Jonmeri yard—the Maestro 38 was designed to be a faster, more sophisticated evolution of the highly successful Maestro 35. Rather than chasing the massmarket trends of highvolume, flatbottomed coastal cruisers, Still designed the 38 to handle the unforgiving, chopheavy conditions of the Baltic Sea and North Atlantic, combining true upwind efficiency with structural overengineering.
