The Little Harbor 42, designed by legendary naval architect, sailmaker, and America's Cupwinning skipper Ted Hood, represents the pinnacle of late1980s semicustom American yacht design. Built between 1987 and 1989, this model was created to serve as an ultrapremium, highly capable bluewater voyager that could seamlessly transition from deepocean passages to the shallow, winding gunkholes of the East Coast and Bahamas. Under Ted Hood’s guidance, Little Harbor yachts built a formidable reputation for uncompromising construction quality and seakindly manners. While early vessels under the builder's name were outsourced to various Taiwanese shipyards like Lien Hwa, Hood eventually established his own dedicated, proprietary facility in northern Taiwan to guarantee total quality control. The resulting Little Harbor 42 is a heavily built, beautifully finished sailing yacht designed for shorthanded couples who refuse to sacrifice luxury, safety, or shallowdraft flexibility.
