The Hinterhoeller 30 represents a pivotal moment in North American boatbuilding, bridging the gap between George Hinterhoeller’s early custom woodcraft and the fiberglass revolution that would eventually lead to the formation of C&C Yachts. Introduced in the late 1960s, the Hinterhoeller 30 (often referred to interchangeably as the HR 30) was designed by George Hinterhoeller himself. It was a direct evolution of his HR 25 and HR 28 designs, intended to provide a more substantial, seakindly cruising platform that did not sacrifice the performance characteristics for which Hinterhoeller’s "Shark" had become famous. While it shares some DNA with the eventual C&C 30 Mark I, the Hinterhoeller 30 retains a distinct identity, characterized by a more traditional aesthetic and the highstandard joinery that George’s St. Catharines shop was known for before massproduction pressures increased.
