While the original Herreshoff Manufacturing Company ceased its primary operations in the 1940s, Halsey carried the torch into the late 20th century, designing a series of performance cruisers that prioritized ease of handling and seaworthiness. The 37 is most commonly recognized in its "Cat Ketch" configuration, a rig characterized by two unstayed masts and the absence of a headsail, though a traditional sloop version was also produced.
